Ronald Reagan Presidential Library

On a rainy Tuesday last week, I took the day off and went to the Ronald Regan Presidential Library. It was truly an amazing experience and I got so much more out of it than I ever thought possible. I'm not a real political person, other than always feeling somewhat offended when people bash our current president. (regardless who it might be at any given time) I always feel like he or she (maybe she in the near future!) is still our leader and it would be like speaking badly of your parents while you are living under their roof and eating their food! When someone openly bashes our president, I feel like it shows other countries that instead of being united, we are a separate, hateful and condescending front. I feel like our president deserves, if anything, our respect, whether we may disagree with his opinions, views and choices. I'm not saying that we should not voice our opinions, I just feel like we should not use the presidents name in "vain" if you will! Moving right along...the library was truly beautiful with so many pieces of history right at my fingertips! I had forgotten what an incredible man Ronald Reagan was as well as his stunning wife, Nancy. In 1985 I was so into "me" and my new life as a wife that the world events just took a back seat and as long as my little world was uninterrupted, I was not interested in what was going on! It was really interesting to go back in time and remember all that happened during his 2 terms in office. I was touched and brought to tears as I watched the many videos that replayed the bits of history. The most touching of all to me were the beautiful, tender love notes that the president had written to his wife. They had them on display in a big glass case, and as I read them one by one, tears just fell down my cheeks. This man adored his wife and he wrote it so eloquently, without fear of being vulnerable or so it seemed. Those love notes will stick with me for awhile and my heart will be filled with an overwhelming sense of admiration for our 40th president and his loving wife. Again, I should stress, that even though my personal opinions may be very different from his view, I do admire all that he did for my country.
