Children seldom misquote you. In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said!

A couple of years ago I had to speak at Open House and I used this line. It is so true and we really have to watch what we say in front of our kids- they pick up on everything! Children are so honest, aren't they? A good reminder to be a good example to our kids!

Hi Adi- I love your blog. Your comment about be careful what we say in front of our kids is so true. I have to share a funny story that happened a few months ago. I got the girls ready for swim lessons and put them in the car and was about to back out of the garage when I realized I had forgotten their towels. I ran inside to get the towels and as I was running back to the car and didn't see that Bailey had left a little poopy present on the rug. You can imagine what happened. I stepped in it and did not realize until I had taken two steps into our dining roon with the off white carpet. I was so grossed out and mad. I don't even know where the dog was, but the girls were in the car so I let it rip like a sailor. I was so mad. We had just has the carpets cleaned like two days before. Okay, so I do a quick spray of the carpet and then jump back in the car. I started telling Rachel and Sarah what had happened in the house and that when we get home to stay out of that room because I need to get the carpet steamer out and clean. Little Sarah sitting in her car seat just shaking her head back and forth the entire time I was talking. When I finished what I had to stay she turned her head, looked out the window and said, Oh, the fuckin' dog" I said, "Sarah we don't talk like that" Rachel pipes in, "Well you do Mom, we just heard you in the house" Busted- Big time!!!!!!

Can vividly picture it all!!! Gotta love the things that our girls pick up on. Thank God that they also pick up on our "special qualities" as well! Shea has picked up saying, "stinkin'"- "he is so stinkin' cute- this food is so stinkin' good!" I actually think you & I used to say that when we were together! We gotta watch that "cursing"- it's kind of like "hitting"- can't curse or hit the kid and then tell them not to do it to others! Fuckin' A !!! xoxo
