Lisa = My Best Friend!
When I worked for Dr. Felt, he would always tease me because if one of my friends came in, I would always introduce them as "one of my best friends." I have been so blessed to have many friends whom I consider to be my true, best, kindred spirit "best friends." They are all very different from each other and even further from my person than I can even express. The truth is that I love each one of them...with a love that is truly sent and blessed by God. I would not trade the joy, friendship, laughter, tears, shared pains, shared births, shared deaths for anything in the world...and I mean that sincerely. Every once in awhile, something happens to remind me of why I love one friend in particular the way that I do. Lisa & I grew up across the street from each other since we were 5 years old- 37 years we have loved and been there for each other. Even though we don't see eye to eye on many things, and our opinions vary severely on any topic that you bring up...she has a place in my heart that will always be reserved for only her. Lisa has lived in Oregon for over 15 years now, yet we talk almost daily, and we never run out of things to discuss. We can get each other laughing about the silliest things and that's what happenened last night. I was telling Lisa about my weekend and how productive I had been with all of my house cleaning, bragging if you will! I'm trying to get my bathrooms ready for a remodel and I mentioned that I had put up a new shower liner. (These are the things we talk about...now you know why we never run out of mindless things to talk about- who else would care about that?) Anyway, earlier this year the lady below me had water damage from a leak from my bathtub faucet and $500.00 later all is fine & fixed. Well, as I was talking with Lisa last night, she said, "Oh, AD...if that had happenened to you, you would have had a canary!" I let it go for a second but then had to go back- you know how I can't leave well enough alone! I asked her what she meant by "having a canary?" She then explained that is what people say when someone is having a "fit." I told her that I had never heard that term...I had heard of a conniption fit, a hissy fit, having a cow, but in all my day...never having a canary! I made her ask Timy and he told her that he had never heard it used that way either. My point of telling y'all this and rambling on was this: even though we were not sitting in front of each other, face to face...we were hysterically laughing! I had tears running down my face, could barely catch my breath, all the while having to hear Lisa in the same state! There is something to be said about having someone that you can do that with...I thank God every day that I have my Lisa. She emailed me this morning and clarified what she meant: "You would have had a CORONARY!" Geez- I laughed all over again! I love Lisa so very, very much!
